| Gordo Taqueria on Solano in Berkeley, CA used to be my favorite East Bay burrito stop. Since it was always packed, and in 1992 I needed work, (well, I still do!) I did five quick-ish charcoal portraits for these Gordo employees at no cost to them, made photocopies into a poster with my phone number prominent, and asked them to put it up in the taqueria. Their customers saw the portraits and the live subjects, could compare likenesses, and then some became my customers.
